Current position
Marketing and Sales Manager

Tell us briefly about yourself and your current position at BODE. How did you come to BODE?

My name is Sławomir, I am 38 years old and I work at BODE in Poland as a Marketing and Sales Manager. I started working as an Account Manager at BODE in January 2012, which was the first full-time position in my career.

Perhaps my passion for trains and railroads comes from the fact that I come from a small town near where the test track of a railroad institute is located and where all new trains are tested and approved. I've always been very enthusiastic about the different models.

Could you give us an overview of your professional career?

At BODE, I worked in retail from the very beginning, from account manager to head of the marketing and sales department. You could say that I now know the commercial aspects of BODE inside out.

My adventure at BODE started in January 2012 as an Account Manager. During my time at BODE, I have worked with all customers and I am still responsible for the development of the Romanian market. In 2018, I was promoted to Head of Marketing and Sales Department. I am still very successful in this position today. In 2021, I started my doctoral studies at the Opole University of Technology. This opportunity was offered to me by BODE as part of an implementation doctorate on the topic of safety and optimization of the parameters of external doors in rail vehicles.

The motivation for applying to BODE was my passion for trade, but also for trains. BODE made it possible for me to realize both of my passions in one job.

What tasks are part of your daily work routine?

The main area of responsibility in relation to day-to-day work is acquiring new orders from the company's portfolio. I am supported by a team of professionals who are responsible for day-to-day contact with the customer and whom I am able to support with my knowledge and experience. An important aspect is maintaining good relationships and contacts with customers, thanks to which a number of problems can be solved before they escalate.

One of the things I particularly enjoy in my day-to-day work is the opportunity to negotiate the best possible conditions for BODE contracts.

How does teamwork work at BODE?

Working in a company that supplies products for the rail industry is very special due to the limited number of customers. Cooperation within the BODE Group is based on partnership and firm commercial principles. The structures of the various locations overlap in some areas, which has a positive effect on faster data exchange and a more efficient flow of information.

The most important things for me when working in a team are openness, honesty and development opportunities. All these values can be found at BODE, which is why my work is pure pleasure for me.

Have you personally benefited from training or development programs?

The biggest development opportunity I was given at BODE was the opportunity to pursue a PhD. Such a proposal was presented in 2021. After a series of interviews, both at university and ministerial level, and after a positive review of the topic, I was admitted to the first year of doctoral studies at the Opole University of Technology. I am currently a 3rd year student and have a number of publications and presentations at scientific and industry conferences.

What advice would you give to new employees just starting at BODE?

The best way to succeed professionally is to work hard and pursue a goal. However, we must not forget that the tasks we perform should also bring us the joy of professional fulfillment.
